Open Position: Facility Maintenance Technician

Are you a skilled maintenance professional who takes pride in creating a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for community and worship? Sunset Church is seeking a well-rounded, hands-on Facility Maintenance Technician to oversee our church buildings and grounds.

What You’ll Do

  • Building & Grounds Care: Perform routine inspections and hands-on repairs of building systems (plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC), while managing preventative maintenance schedules and work orders.

  • Team & Vendor Leadership: Supervise custodial and grounds personnel, while coordinating external contractors for specialized maintenance and capital projects.

  • Safety & Security: Manage access control, fire/life-safety systems, and surveillance while ensuring compliance with local building codes and leading emergency protocols.

  • Event & Budget Support: Coordinate room setups/teardowns and basic A/V for weekly services and events, order supplies, and assist with facility budget management.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required plus 3+ years in general facilities maintenance or a related trade.

  • Technical Skills: Broad practical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and custodial operations, along with basic computer literacy.

  • Physical Capabilities: Comfortable lifting heavy objects (not to exceed 50 lbs.), climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, and working indoors and outdoors.

  • Soft Skills: Highly organized, proactive problem-solver, with excellent communication skills and a flexible schedule for weekend/evening event support or emergencies. Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision required.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly wage commensurate with experience.
